First, I just want to say thank you for visiting my blog!
My name is Rachel and I am currently a third year naturopathic medical student loving life in the Pacific Northwest. I am dorky plant-eater, who loves fun facts and puns. I enjoy going down PubMed rabbit holes on cozy PNW days while cuddling a warm cup of coffee. On the days we are graced with sun, I can often be found hiking or exploring a new city with friends.
From the time I was five years old, I have been amazed and fascinated by the wonders of the human body. I’m interested in, find beauty in, and suppose I even find comfort in the fact that we are complex, dynamic organisms living in an ever-changing world, with the capacity to self-regulate and self-heal if given the proper environmental conditions.
For most of my life I had no idea what naturopathic medicine was or that it even existed. It was not until I experienced my own health issues and subsequent frustrations being a patient in the Western, allopathic model of care that I sought out alternatives to heal my body. Not knowing where to turn, I found a functional medicine M.D. who sat and listened to me for an hour while I shared my health struggles. It was the first time a doctor had made me feel heard and validated my experience. The idea of becoming a M.D. never really appealed to me, but I also felt that the world needed more doctors like him. Thus, I set out to investigate how to become a more holistic doctor.
Through my investigation, I stumbled upon the Association of Accredited of Naturopathic Medical Colleges‘ website. The principles and the philosophy behind naturopathic medicine deeply resonated with me, and so I set out to become a naturopathic physician. It is now my passion and life’s mission to share this medicine with as many people as possible!
Everyone has the right and the capacity to heal, be well, and be whole. We have been given innately intelligent bodies that know how to get us there as long as we create the conditions for health. I know this this to be true because I have experienced it first-hand as I have worked to heal and restore myself to a state of wellness.
Thank you for gifting me the opportunity to walk along side you on your wellness journey. I look forward to getting to know you!
